The Prestige system in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6" can be a little confusing to understand, particularly for newcomers to Activision's popular shooter franchise.
There are a lot of things that players need to be mindful of regarding the Prestige system, but they are actually relatively simple once you actually learn about them in detail. This guide aims to help you learn everything about this part of the game.
What is Prestige?
The first thing to know is that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's" Prestige system is where players can show the world that they are experienced with the game. The system also reverts to its classic form in the latest entry in the franchise.
This means that the Prestige system is no longer tied to live service seasons throughout the game. It is essentially your player level, where the higher it is, the more experienced you are and how much time you have spent in-game, according to PCGamesN.
How To Prestige?
Players can Prestige in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6" by reaching the game's max level, which was 55 as of Oct. 31, 2024. After doing this, you will see a pop-up asking if you want to Prestige immediately or save it for later.
If you do choose to skip this, you can Prestige whenever you want by simply clicking on the six dots at the top right to open the Barracks menu and select the "Progression" option. You then have to click on the "Prestige" card and select the Prestige level.

What Happens When You Prestige?
When you choose to Prestige, either immediately when the pop-up asks you or at a later time, you will see that a variety of things have changed.
These include resetting your Player Level to 1, all of your level unlocks are gone except for Operators, Emotes, and permanent unlocks, and your loadout is reset, One Esports said.
On the other hand, you still retain weapon progression, camos, and reticles, as well as weapon builds. You can still use the latter once more after you unlock all of the build items. You will also retain challenge progress and unlocks, as well as store and battle pass content.
What is Master Prestige?
When you reach Prestige level 10, you will not be able to reset your Account Level anymore. You will instead activate what is known as Master Prestige, which is a system that lets players reach up to level 1,000.
If you reach this level, you will get some unique cosmetic rewards that the developer of the game has not yet revealed. This effectively works the same way as the Prestige system from "Modern Warfare II" and "Modern Warfare III," according to The Gamer.
