Nintendo recently released "Mario & Luigi: Brothership," which is the latest entry in the turn-based RPG spin-off of the studio's beloved franchise.

The last time that a new mainline "Mario & Luigi" game was released was nearly a decade ago. Even if the spin-off series itself has not been heard from for quite some time, "Mario & Luigi: Brothership" makes sure that it is heard by fans of the franchise.

The latest entry in the spin-off series is arguably "Mario & Luigi's" biggest adventure in the history of the franchise. "Mario & Luigi: Brothership" also offers a surprisingly deep refresh of the nearly-forgotten spin-off games.

This beginner's guide provides some basic tips & tricks that newcomers and returning fans should know about before starting "Mario & Luigi: Brothership."

Learn Each Brother's Strengths

Mario and Luigi each have their own strengths and weaknesses. In "Mario & Luigi: Brothership," one will be useful for certain things. For example, Mario has a higher attack power, more Bros. Points, and is faster, according to The Gamer.

On the other hand, Luigi has a lot more health points, a higher defense, and a much higher luck stat than his red counterpart. The change in this entry is that you do not get to choose where stat points go when you level up, so it is important to know how each character was designed.

Use Experience Boosters

One of the most important upgrades on any skill tree is the slot that lets you earn bonus experience from fighting enemies. Additionally, the game has some accessories that reward conditional bonus experience, such as the Arc Scope.

This particular item increases the experience that you earn by 15% if you are able to win a battle without taking any damage. You should keep these items equipped to help you level up at a faster rate.

Avoid Getting Quick Leveling as a Rank-Up Bonus

When you level up either Mario or Luigi, you will have the option of choosing a Rank-Up Bonus at specific levels starting at level 8. You have a variety of options to choose from, including increased stats or more gear slots.

The option that you avoid choosing is Quick Leveling, as experience does not do much in the endgame, and you have a lot of options to make leveling characters go faster, such as certain accessories. Game Rant said.

Battle Each Enemy at Least Once

"Mario & Luigi: Brothership" has a ton of unique and challenging enemies you can encounter throughout the campaign. Each of these has its own battle styles and mechanics as well as timing to master.

You should try out each battle at least once to see how the mechanics are and get yourself familiarized with the game's controls. This also lets you practice your timing to dodge enemy attacks that can come in handy later on quickly.

Explore Previous Areas

Sometimes, there are new routes that open up in old areas that you can travel to get to new points and grab new goodies that were not accessible before. You should always check the map to see if any new paths have opened up or if there are new side quests to complete.

You also have the Spirit Bulbs that can be collected, which are useful when you want to make your own Battle Plugs later in the game, according to Nintendo.
