Former CD Projekt Red developers who worked on The Witcher franchise are now part of a new studio that is set to reveal its new game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, on Jan. 13, 2025.
The announcement was made by publisher Bandai Namco and developer Rebel Wolves. The two studios will hold a special reveal event on the scheduled date for the game, which was previously known as Dawnwalker.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker is said to be the first chapter of the developer's new role-playing saga and is described as a single-player open-world dark fantasy action RPG. It will supposedly have a strong focus on story and narrative.
The yet-to-be-officially revealed game is developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The only thing we got so far is a short teaser trailer for the reveal event that shows the supposed opening theme of the game, according to Gematsu.
Rebel Wolves was founded in 2022 by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who is a CD Projekt Red veteran responsible for directing The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. He also worked on the previous two entries in the franchise and was head of production for Cyberpunk 2077.

Several other The Witcher veterans join Tomaszkiewicz, such as art director Bartlomiej Gawel, animation director Tamara Zawada, and narrative director Jakub Szamalek. The Polish studio's first game was officially announced back in January earlier this year.
Bandai Namco is planning to start next year off with a bang, using The Blood of Dawnwalker as a catalyst for further hype across the community. It is a game that will join the publisher's growing list of titles that are set to be revealed or released in 2025, Game Rant said.
A Narrative Sandbox
The original announcement for The Blood of Dawnwalker also described the game as a narrative sandbox, but the studios did not provide further details. It was also revealed that the game will have a AAA budget.
The news comes as The Witcher 4 was announced during The Game Awards 2024 with a cinematic trailer. The footage showcased that the latest entry in the franchise will feature Ciri as the main protagonist.
However, fans of the series will still be able to see Geralt of Rivia make an appearance in the game in some way. Executive producer Malgorzata Mitrega said that the female lead was "the very organic, logical choice" to be the main character, according to IGN.
