Developer Square Enix announced that the next season for Foamstars, Party Goes On, will be the game's last despite it still remaining online afterward.
The game's last season comes as Foamstars was only released less than a year ago. The company announced the news in a blog post where it reassures that the shooter will not be shutting down completely.
Foamstars' Final Season
The final season for Foamstars will start on Dec. 13, 2024, and will run until Jan. 17, 2025. After that date, season updates for the game will come to a halt and there will be no new content being added anymore.
Square Enix said that Party Goes On is Foamstars' concluding update that will introduce expansions that will enhance gameplay. These include the ability to customize shots of every single character as well as new enhancement elements.
The latter include Prism Gems that are part of an effort to ensure that players can still enjoy Foamstars for the foreseeable future. This is despite the game no longer getting anything after the next season, according to Eurogamer.

The previous season passes for Foamstars will also be made available in the future which will benefit players who missed them when they came out. The developer also noted that they give players the option to switch between passes and choose the particular season pass track that they want.
Square Enix said that this feature will let fans collect all of the obtainable items from each season. The Premium Pass for each season will still be a pay-to-acquire feature but the basic pass is completely free.
Continuing In-Game Events
The Foamstars Cup will also be hosted across a series of events that are named after each character in the game. This suggests that there will be eight separate events named after the eight playable characters in Foamstars, IGN said.
While the game will still be live, the removal of seasons still has people concerned about the future of Foamstars. When Foamstars was released in February 2024, it opened to a relatively underwhelming reception.
Since then, Square Enix has been unable to attract enough players to make the game more of a success. Some players said that Foamstars' combat mechanics were engaging but argued that it had confounding time-gated modes and aggressive monetization.
Foamstars is a shooter that centers around augmenting battlefields with color-coded elevation-changing foam. You are also able to "chill" your enemies, which is a unique mechanic in the game, according to Kotaku.
