Square Enix's visually stunning retro-style JRPG Octopath Traveler 2 builds on the foundations of its predecessor. It also adds a ton of content and features.
There are also quite a lot of quality-of-life changes and improvements in the sequel. These make the overall gaming experience even better. Coming into the sequel, some fans may have expectations after playing the first game in the franchise.
The game has a lot to offer and it can be overwhelming not knowing where to go first. This beginner's guide gives a little rundown of what players can expect. It also gives some recommendations on what they should be doing in the early stages of the game.
Keep a Lookout at the Color of Enemy Names
Whenever you get into a fight, you should take a close look at what color your foes' names are written in. This lets you estimate how much HP the enemy still has even without the use of the Scholar's Analyze ability.
White means that the foe is still very healthy, yellow means that it has about half of its maximum HP left, and red means that it is close to dying. This lets you strategize on which enemies to focus on, according to Polygon.
Target One Enemy at a Time
Since you can estimate which enemies are close to being defeated, it is highly recommended to take down foes one at a time. This lets you reduce the amount of damage you take and gets you your turn quicker.
This is particularly true when you are facing off against bosses as the minions that they summon can sometimes get overwhelming if left alone. It is also recommended to use area-of-effect skills that can damage multiple enemies at once.

Sell Stuff That Have no Use
You will come across a variety of items throughout your adventures in Octopath Traveler 2. These include things like equipment and consumables. The majority of this stuff can be beneficial or used in one way or another.
But other items were designed solely with the purpose of being sold off to vendors to give you a way to get some money. The game denotes these with a description that they sell for a certain amount of price. This is a good source of income if you explore a lot of areas, The Gamer said.
Manage Equipment in Taverns
Managing equipment in the game can be a hassle as you are only allowed to swap equipped items on your active party members. This makes it difficult to know which other characters could benefit from the loot that you got.
This is where Taverns become useful as you can manage your entire roster's equipment at once instead of just the four main members. This saves a lot of time in the long run and lets you find the perfect character to use various equipment.
Make Use of Time Changing Mechanics
Players have complete control of the time of day in Octopath Traveler 2 using the ZR button. This is particularly useful because different things happen during the day compared to at night. The time of day influences combat encounters, townsfolk dialogue, and objectives.
This can also affect your party members' abilities as what you have access to will change depending on what time it is, according to Dual Shockers.
