Developer 21cDucks is bringing its pixel art soulslike action adventure game Chrono Sword to PC in early access in December 2024.
Chrono Sword is also set to come out on the Nintendo Switch sometime in the future and a recent showcase shared some gameplay footage. The game's pixel characters were shown to have fluid motions in stunning pixel environments.
Chrono Sword Early Access
The areas in the game have interactive VFXs as well as emotional music that will surely capture players' hearts and provide a more immersive experience. Chrono Sword's combat is detailed and there is no stamina for your characters.
The system gives players a more immersive experience that has never been achieved in 2D visuals. Battles are also made even more complex with the use of skills and items, separating them from other soulslike titles.
The levels in Chrono Sword were designed as vertical and non-linear based on a seamless world. This was to encourage players to try and travel everywhere they can for a more challenging experience. There are also various secrets hidden that you can look for, according to Go Nintendo.

Unlike other games that are considered soulslike but lack an engaging story, Chrono Sword features a charming heroine. The protagonist, Aenor, will have to embark on a journey in order to uncover the secret of the past, the future, and the hidden other side of time travelers.
The game's early access is set to come out on Dec. 6, 2024, for PC via Steam and will be followed by a full release. The latter will be for consoles and PC that have not yet been officially given an exact date.
An Immersive Soulslike Experience
Publisher CFK and the developer said that Chrono Sword's early access will feature about 30% of the full game. It will have three regions, a ton of monsters and bosses, as well as an array of useful equipment, Gematsu said.
Some of the game's combat mechanics include Quick Evade, which lets players dodge enemy attacks. There is also Attack Cancel where perfect timing lets you cancel your current attack and transition seamlessly into a different action.
Players also get access to Finishing Attacks, which are arguably one of the more exciting features in Chrono Sword. These can be done after you drive through enemies following an Attack Cancel and deal devastating damage.
Another feature of the game is 3D motion which lets players control their characters and move them in 16 directions. This allows you to precisely read enemy actions and lines of sight, according to Noisy Pixel.
