The upcoming co-op survival sandbox game Aloft is coming to PC in early access on Jan. 15, 2025, and features island exploration and floating homes.
The game is described as having a safe-as-you-like vibe and its visuals seem to have taken inspiration from Studio Ghibli. Aloft was initially planned to enter early access this fall but this was delayed to next year.
Aloft Early Access
In Aloft, players can enjoy the relaxing feeling of building and crafting without having to worry about threats. There is also the satisfaction of cleansing the corruption that has spread across the various islands' ecosystems.
The game lets players feel the thrill of exploring both calm and stormy skies as they work on learning about the mysterious past of the world. As players travel, they can collect a variety of seeds that can be planted and animals that can be nurtured.
There is also ancient technology present in Aloft that players can progress and take advantage of to make lives easier. Up to eight players can join forces in Aloft to explore, craft, and build their own unique skyships, according to MassivelyOP.

To build these construction marvels, you can place sails, a helm, and rudders on your preferred floating islands. Aloft's early access version also promises to feature many unique enemies, three different biomes, hundreds of building and decorative items, and tons of crops and animals.
Aloft seems to combine the levitating islands of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the sailing adventures of Sea of Thieves. It also features an approach to sandbox survival reminiscent of No Man's Sky.
Inspirations From Popular Franchises
Mixing together all of these inspirations makes Aloft a promising early access game that has a lot of potential. It promises to be a noteworthy title as publisher Funcom is also preparing to release Dune Awakening, PCGamesN said.
The floating islands that players will own in the game continuously move around and are able to harness the power of the wind. It is important to discover other players' bases and uncover new locations in order to learn new skills and find more resources to gather.
You should also keep the wind in mind as it is a vital source of power for your floating headquarters. Windmills are useful in generating electricity that can then be used throughout your island using wires.
The studios behind Aloft said that throughout its early access period, they will expand it with brand new game mechanics, biomes, challenges, and many other new content, according to Niche Gamer.
