Players can access a ton of weapons and armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Armor sets in particular are the best way to protect yourself from incoming attacks from enemies. These pieces of equipment work well with shields to mitigate the damage that you receive throughout your adventure.
There are a lot of armors that you can find in the game that provide varying bonuses to Link. Knowing which ones are actually good makes it easier to keep and which ones can be discarded or ignored.
This list shows some of the best armor sets that players can find across Hyrule. We list down what makes these sets powerful and how you can get your hands on them.
1. Champion's Leathers
First up is the Champion's Leathers armor set that boasts nearly unparalleled defense within the game. This armor is a torso piece that can be found in the Hyrule Castle Throne Room and has a starting defense of five.
While it is initially underwhelming, you can upgrade the Champion's Leathers to make it stronger and eventually become one of your primary equipment, according to Games Radar.
To get this item, you need to set alight two unlit torches on either side of the Throne in the Throne Room. This lets you access a chest that was hidden behind the Throne.
2. Climbing Gear
This is a full armor set that has a unique buff of increasing Link's climbing speed, which is particularly useful for scaling tall structures or mountains. With three pieces that start with base three defense, you get a total of nine without even upgrading anything.
The Climbing Gear armor set can be found in various places across Hyrule. To get the head piece, travel to Ploymus Mountain Cave and look for rocks that are jutting out. Climb all the way up to find the bandana in a shrine.
To get the body piece, you need to go near the first of the Geoglyphs in Hyrule Plain, specifically the New Serenne Stable. The North Hyrule Plain Cave is directly East and has an entrance facing South. You need to fight your way through enemies to locate the shrine that has the armor.
To get the leg piece, you first need to travel to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. You then have to glide South down the cliffs. Then, go inside the Upland Zorana Byroad Cave a bit north and look for a pool.
You then need to go Northeast to travel through a partially hidden route that will come to a flooded room filled with ruins. Lift the gate using Ultrahand to lower the water level so you can duck under the stairs to a shrine with the boots.

3. Flamebreaker Armor
Next up is the Flamebreaker Armor which consists of three pieces and provides the Fireproof set bonus. This is the most useful armor set when you need to travel through the volcanic areas of the game, Hardcore Gamer said.
The great thing about this set is that you can purchase it in Goron City but it will cost you a total of 3,300 rupees. While this may be a bit expensive, it is a one-time payment and you won't have to do any quest to get the armor set.
4. Snowquill Armor
On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Snowquill Armor which provides amazing resistance against the cold weather. This armor set can also be purchased in Rito Village for a total of 2,150 rupees.
The set bonus that it provides is known as Freezeproof and will make Link immune to freezing effects from any source. While this is not as useful as Fireproof, it's still something that makes your adventure a little bit easier.
5. Mystic Armor
The Mystic Armor set is arguably the strongest complete set of equipment in the game when it comes to protecting Link. What makes this armor set so strong is that it essentially makes your character immortal as long as you have rupees.
The set bonus that the Mystic Armor set provides makes you lose rupees instead of health whenever you are damaged. This is basically a cheat mode for players who are rich within the game, according to CBR.
In order to get this obscenely powerful armor set, you need to be able to access Koltin's Shop and pay a total of 12 Bubbul Gems.
