Developer and publisher SUNSOFT is finally bringing its colony simulation and tower defense game Ark of Charon out of early access on Steam. This is with a 1.0 launch on PC on Nov. 7, 2024.

The game was first released on Steam in early access on July 9, 2024, and the full release will include a variety of new content and features. One of these is that the "World Tree Extractor" device will get new energy and weapons.

Ark of Charon Full Release

It will also receive a plethora of balance adjustments and visual updates that will make the gaming experience even better. The game's story revolves around the sacred World Tree that has unfortunately withered, bringing with it humanity.

But a sapling has surprisingly sprouted and it is now up to you to be its caretaker and guide it so that it may bloom and bring life once more. Ark of Charon mixes colony simulation and tower defense mechanics to create a unique experience, according to Gematsu.

The game puts players in the shoes of the World Tree sapling's caretaker and gives them the ability to order Golems. You will also be able to turn the sapling itself into a fortified mobile fortress as you progress through the story.

On your adventures, you will have to engage in battle with various monsters who will continuously attack your base. You can construct a variety of weapons in order to defend against their relentless onslaught.

A Challenging Tower Defense

As players work on fortifying their defenses, they must also be wary of strategic placements and be aware of the effects of gravity. Minding these factors is essential to maximizing the potential of your settlement and ensuring that it doesn't collapse on itself, Worth Playing said.

The golems in the game can be controlled to harvest, forage, or mine for various resources at campsites. The latter are scattered throughout the route to the nursery where you must bring the World Tree sapling.

You will also find old relics and lost technologies that were previously used by the former human inhabitants of the world. These can give your character the strength to defend your colony and unlock special resources that will make it easier for you to survive.

Another feature of Ark of Charon is the effect of weather where a storm will continuously damage all of a player's buildings and golems. This is only one of the many reasons that you should keep moving, according to PCGamesN.
