Bandai Namco released the first update for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO that includes a variety of adjustments, improvements, and nerfs.

The latest patch follows up on the developer's promise to nerf one particular playable character, Yajirobe, who has been considered somewhat overpowered. While the in-universe individual was relatively underwhelming, their game version was standing atop the meta.

First Major Update

This issue was primarily due to Yajirobe's cheesy Senzu Bean strategy that lets him stay healthy in the middle of a match. This led to many opponents quitting halfway through and not even finishing the match.

The first Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO update addresses this problem along with other issues that players have been experiencing. But with regards to character changes, it seems like only Yajirobe has been affected.

What is a little disappointing with the update is that there are no comprehensive patch notes that detail everything included in the latest release. Some people are still hoping for the first update for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO to get patch notes soon, according to Comic Book.

Players so far know some things about the latest patch based on what Bandai Namco has previously said would be included in the first update for the game. These include improvement of a particular issue where players experience that some controls become unresponsive during online matches when they select classic controls.

There is also an adjustment to difficulty levels when you play specific stages in Episode Battle on lower difficulty settings. The patch also improved operational stability. The more noteworthy changes are adjustments to Yajirobe's stats.

Nerfs to Yajirobe

The adjustments to the character include increasing the skill count that players need to activate the Senzu Bean ability from five to six. The update also starts Yajirobe off in each match he enters with zero beans as opposed to the previous two, Kotaku said.

Another major change to the previously overpowered character is that Bandai Namco reduced his health by half a bar, from three to two and a half. The release of the first update also showed players a preview of what the team is working on next, including fixes to character resets and deleted data.

One major drawback with the patch is that Replay Data for all battles, including Custom Battle World Library replays, will be deleted. The developers said that it was also looking to fix other major issues that players have been encountering within the game, according to Game Rant.
