Developer Undead Labs released one final major update for State of Decay 2. This is before the end of support for the beloved zombie survival game.

Fans of the studio have been waiting eagerly for the third game in the franchise but the latest update to State of Decay 2 may stave their hunger off for a bit more. The final patch for the game features substantial changes and new content to make it go out with a bang.

State of Decay 2's Final Major Update

The update includes a variety of quality-of-life improvements, balancing changes, adjustments to rewards from events, and a ton of bug fixes. One of the most significant parts of the final update is the introduction of community inventories.

You can see this new feature from the community screen to access the stashes of all the other survivors found inside your base. This addition makes it a lot easier for players to organize, swap, and store gear across their survivors, according to PCGamesN.

There is also a new mechanic that you need to look out for when you are driving a vehicle around State of Decay 2's world. The new momentum mechanic will slow down your car if you are driving through water.

One noteworthy thing about this feature is that 4x4s are less affected by water whereas smaller vehicles, such as sports cars, will be significantly affected. Undead Labs also added a few new clothing items for players to wear as well as unlocked previously time-gated content.

End of Undead Labs' Support

With the latest patch, known as Update 38: Legacy Awaits, Undead Labs implemented a variety of quality-of-life improvements that affect gameplay, zombie enemies and combat, in-game events, community features, missions, and many more, Windows Central said.

Another change with the final update is that zombie spawning has been removed following certain noise events. These include failed search crashes and door slams. They will now simply attract existing zombies to your location instead of spawning new enemies.

Undead Labs also reduced the distance at which characters automatically try to climb down from ledges. Furthermore, they will no longer try to climb down unintentionally while you are aiming down your sights, according to Comic Book.

The developer originally announced in September 2024 that support for State of Decay 2 would end relatively soon. While many fans are excited for the next entry in the zombie survival franchise, a lot of people are disappointed with the end of an amazing title.
