Bandai Namco is rumored to be working on a new Death Note game as a listing in Taiwan was seen that suggests the title is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The development comes after some people noticed that the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee published a new rating for a Death Note game. The title is said to belong to Bandai Namco.

New Death Note Game

Usually, Ratings boards can issue a certification that signals the game is coming anywhere between a few days to a few months. What is notable about this particular situation is that there has been no official confirmation of the supposed Death Note game by Bandai Namco.

The title of the game that was seen in the Taiwan rating is Death Note: Shadow Mission. However, this is the literal translation of its original name. The English version is Death Note: Killer Within, according to Sports Illustrated.

The English title seems to correspond to the mysterious trademark that manga publisher Shueisha filed over the summer. That particular trademark had no other details associated with it other than the name.

Another curious thing about the Taiwan listing is that Bandai Namco typically publishes its anime games on multiple platforms. But since there is no official confirmation yet, this could come at a later date with different listings.

The potential Death Note game comes as the Anime/Manga has been one of the most popular series in the last few decades. The animated series ran for 37 episodes and it also spawned several live-action shows, Comic Book said.

A Taiwan Rating Leak

There have been previous Death Note-related video games released by Konami in 2007 and 2008. All of the titles were available on the Nintendo DS but never got out of Japan to reach an international audience.

Despite the lack of an official confirmation, many fans are taking the rating as a sign that the Death Note game is real. This is because Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee leaks have almost always proven to be accurate.

The Death Note manga follows the story of model student Light Yagami. He find a notebook that originally belonged to a shinigami named Ryuk. The Death Note grants the ability to kill anyone by writing their name on its pages.

The series follows a mystery-detective story between Light and master investigator L. The latter leads a Japanese task force to uncover the identity of the mystery killer, according to IGN.
