Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima lets players master the art of the blade in fighting for justice against the Mongolian army.

The game has a lot of features that some players can find overwhelming, including various skills and combat mechanics. Players have several options in fighting, including direct swordplay or being a stealthy assassin.

There are various secrets hidden in the vast region of the island of Tsushima. Many of these improve your abilities and make you a stronger Ronin. These tips and tricks will help players learn the basics of the game.

Do Early Story Missions Quickly

There's a lot of stuff to do in Ghost of Tsushima and you can be tempted to rush off into the open world as soon as possible. Before this, you should focus on doing the early-stage story missions first, according to GamesRadar.

Completing the first two-story missions will unlock a couple of crucial things for you. These are a bow and your character's enemy-detecting listening sense. These two features are very useful as you progress.

The bow gives you a ranged option for when you want to fight from a distance. The detection ability lets you locate enemies that are out of your direct sight. These enemies usually make attacking camps or bases a little bit trickier.

Defeat Archers First

When fighting against a group of enemies, it is recommended to take out the archers first to give yourself more room to move around. If you let them be, they could distract you while you are out dueling with a melee fighter and can cost you the battle.

In the later stages of Ghost of Tsushima, you will fight against more than just a handful of enemies at a time. This could make it harder to avoid arrows in the first place even if you hear the tells.

Complete Tales Sidequests

Ghost of Tsushima has various Tales that are sidequests players can complete to acquire various rewards. These include unique armor and weapons from the optional Tales of Tsushima and abilities from Mythic Tales, Polygon said.

Explore the Map

The island of Tsushima is a large region that has a lot of hidden secrets players can search for. There are also some key locations such as Hot Springs and Fox Dens that provide various benefits or boosts to your character.

The former will increase your health and Shrines will give you new charms to use to boost your abilities. On the other hand, Fox Dens will increase your charm slots to let you equip more items.

Finish Objectives When Clearing Camps

If you're trying to clear a camp, you should always try to complete optional objectives on top of just killing the camp leader. Doing this will grant you an extra point to your Stance unlock progression meter. This means that you can get them much faster.

Make Use of Smoke Bombs

If you find yourself in a fight with a group of enemies that you can't beat, the best thing to do is to retreat. Having a lot of eyes on you makes it difficult to actually get away. This is where Smoke Bombs come into play.

These items obscure your enemies' vision to give you a chance to flee if you need to. On the other hand, you can also use this time to get some stealth kills and make the fight a bit more fair for you, according to GameSpot.

Swap Armor Sets on the Fly

Ghost of Tsushima has a lot of missions that range from direct duels to stealth-based tasks. You will get a lot of different armor sets that have unique bonuses. Changing sets on the fly based on what you need helps you make the best of the situation.

Some armor sets are useful for traversing the map, such as the Traveler's Attire. Others are useful for stealth-based missions, such as the Ronin attire. Changing equipment is easy and fast and can be done through the menu.
