Bethesda released a nine-minute deep dive into Starfield's upcoming Shattered Space expansion showing off brand-new content.

The DLC was originally announced in June last year ahead of the release of the studio's game. In June this year, Xbox and Bethesda released the first trailer for the Shattered Space expansion. The new content is set on the mysterious planet of Va'ruun'kai.

Starfield's Shattered Space Expansion

This planet is a new "handcrafted" world and Bethesda explained that it is where the entirety of the DLC takes place. The new deep-dive video shows players a glimpse of the new planet as well as its alien landscapes.

Probably the biggest takeaway from the deep dive video is how it showcases that Bethesda did not fill it with boring and empty procedurally generated worlds or spaces. The studio is promising that the Shattered Space expansion will have at least 50 unique locations, according to Kotaku.

Another thing worth noting is that the DLC seems like it is a very self-contained expansion. In Starfield, players often fly out to different worlds to complete a major quest. But in the Shattered Space DLC, there will only be one planet.

Many players believe that the Shattered Space expansion is exactly what the game needs right now. While Starfield looks fine and alright now, many of the worlds that players visited were empty or had copy-pasted areas.

Starfield lead creative producer Tim Lamb said that the Shattered Space DLC will never send players off the planet. He added that the entire story is fully centered around life in the Va'ruun home world, said IGN.

Lead producer Joe Mueller added that the team wanted to give players the opportunity to explore every nook and cranny of the sole planet in the DLC. Players can find clues as to who the people on it really are and what happened to them.

Telling a Planet's Story

They wanted to make it feel like a traditional Bethesda Game Studios expansion. It was said that the entire planet tells the story of its people who never left their homes and want to remain a secret.

The campaign on this planet centers on a secret experiment that went terribly wrong and caused a big tear in the space-time continuum. This swallowed up a massive portion of the planet's capital, Dazra.

In the immediate aftermath of that horrible situation, various political factions are fighting for power and control. There are also various horrors that come from another dimension to ruin a player's day, according to PCGamer.
