A patent for Nintendo's Pokemon Legends: Z-A suggests that the latest entry in the highly popular franchise could bring back a fan-favorite feature.
Since Nintendo announced the game, there has been very little information shared by the company. But the patent recently revealed that the Ride Pokemon feature could be making a comeback to the franchise.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
The patent included a lot of jargon that many people would probably not understand. However, what it suggested is that players could jump from one Ride Pokemon to another. This kind of feature could make it a much more involved system.
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players had some options on which Pokemon they could ride on. This system essentially replaced bikes and various hidden machines (HMs).
In Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, Nintendo improved this further by using their corresponding Legendary Pokemon, according to ComicBook.
For now, there is no information to suggest what kind of system Pokemon Legends: Z-A would use to bring this feature back. The patent seems to suggest that there could be a group of Pokemon that players can use to perform various roles.

The upcoming game is based on Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, the first mainline entries on the Nintendo 3DS. Those games had some locations where players were able to ride Pokemon. However, this was limited to specific areas of the games.
The current target release date of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is 2025 and could even be one of the first few titles on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. It is known to be set within Lumiose City from previous games.
A Fan-Favorite Feature
The city is one of the largest cities in the Kalos region and is considered to be the heart of the area. The official description of the game says that Lumiose City will be the only location that players will find, said GamesHub.
The theme of the upcoming game seems to be "Urban development," which was hinted at in Pokemon Legends: Z-A's trailer. The video depicted Lumiose City as a neon area in flux. But Nintendo and Game Freak have been tight-lipped about any other information about the new game.
Whatever may happen with the next title in the series and the Ride Pokemon feature, the companies seem to want to improve it even further. But the setting of Pokemon Legends: Z-A raises the question of how the mechanics of this feature could be adapted, according to GameRant.
