An upcoming patch for Star Wars Outlaws aims to fix the game's punishing insta-fail stealth sequences that creative director Julian Gerighty acknowledged are unfair.

Gerighty talked about the issue during a recent interview where he noted that the team intentionally designed the sequence to build "tension." However, they did not mean for it to feel unfair to players.

Upcoming Star Wars Outlaws Patch

The game's creative director said that the situation is more of something that crept in in the last week or so that they are already working on addressing. Gerighty added that the patch will be coming in about 10 days.

Gerighty also gave one example of the issue, which is one of the early missions in Mirogana that is "incredibly punishing" to players. He noted that this is a mistake and is something that the team will improve upon moving forward, according to Eurogamer.

The creative director noted that the solution is not to remove the fail state completely but to make it more enjoyable and understandable. He also confirmed that the team was looking out for other "blockers" that keep players from having fun in Star Wars Outlaws.

Gerighty revealed that Ubisoft will work on tweaking the narrative context of the game. One example of this is adding additional PA announcements that better contextualize what is happening within the game.

While some players may find that the 10-day wait is a little bit too long, it at least gives them time to do something else in the meantime. Furthermore, those who have already beaten these ridiculously challenging parts of the game will have some bragging rights when they are nerfed, said VG247.

Addressing Punishing Stealth Sequences

Game director Mathias Karlson also said that the developers want Star Wars Outlaws players to be in a tense situation. This is where they know that they are in stealth but enemies are close to actually seeing their characters.

Fortunately, there are still things that they can do as long as they do not raise the alarm, such as creating local chaos to avoid those kinds of development. Karlson continued to say that if this doesn't connect well with players, they need to address it when they can.

The Star Wars Outlaws team is open to exploring other options for later points in the game's story if it keeps players from having fun.

Gerighty said that the end goal is to make sure that players feel they have as much choice within the narrative context of quests to complete them as they want, according to GamesRadar.
