Concord will still be a part of Prime Video's Secret Level anthology series despite the hero shooter being abruptly shut down due to low player counts.

The series includes 15 standalone short stories that feature a host of video game properties. It initially mentioned Concord during its announcement at Gamescom 2024. The game's inclusion was then thrown into doubt after PlayStation's decision to shut it down.

Concord Could Stay in Prime Video's Secret Level

But so far, Prime Video has not yet publicly announced whether or not it will keep Concord in Tim Miller's anthology series. Other than Firewalk Studios' troubled shooter, Secret Level also includes stories that feature God of War, Mega Man, Unreal Tournament, and other properties.

One of the actors who is said to star in one of the stories in the series is Keanu Reeves. He was recently shown off voicing Shadow the Hedgehog in the third installment of the Sonic films, according to IGN.

The anthology series was able to get people's attention at Gamescom 2024 not only because of the familiar franchises. It was also because of Miller's involvement in popular anthologies such as Love, Death, and Robots.

Concord is set to officially go offline this week following the decision to shut it down due to its poor performance. This comes less than two weeks after the game's initial release. Its low sales and abysmal concurrent player count supposedly played a factor in the decision.

Firewalk Studios said that the reason for shutting Concord down was partly due to aspects of the game and its initial launch not landing the way it intended, said GamesRadar.

The situation also becomes worse due to the fact that Concord spent eight years in development. The developer will be providing full refunds to players who bought the game. The short time that Concord lasted came as a surprise to players.

Concord's Disastrous Downfall

However, the fact that it was going to shut down is something that many people expected shortly after the game's release. Concord is seen as the latest victim of publishers trying to take advantage of the live-service trend with outside expectations.

This is something that is highly popular these days due to the longevity and profitability of games such as Fortnite and League of Legends. Unfortunately, these games are nearly impossible to replicate.

Concord also follows other high-profile failures such as Electronic Arts' Anthem and Xbox's Redfall. The latter two saw BioWare and Arkane Austin shift to persistent multiplayer games with disastrous results, according to The Verge.
