It's not often that you get a trailer for an upcoming trailer but in this case, it seems to have been warranted. 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios just sent along Evolve's new 4v1 interactive trailer and it's one of the most robust videos in recent memory. It shows off an entire match of the game. It would be remarkable enough being that it's nearly an hour long, but it also shows it from every single player's perspective and an overall commentary, so it's actually six videos in one.
The commentary track video features Aaron "Ayesee" Chambers and Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios, which is a great way to learn about the different tactics and what's going on, but you can also swap between player's perspectives to see just how different it is to play as every class, or as the gigantic evolving Goliath monster itself.
The six different perspectives include-
- Griffin the Trapper
- Markov the Assault
- Hank the Support
- Val the Medic
- Goliath monster
- All five perspectives with commentary
For this trailer the in-game HUD elements like health bars, jetpack meters, and player names have been hidden. You can track the Goliath's health and the Hunter's incap states from the controls at the bottom of the screen, though. Make sure you keep annotations on the video so you can switch between perspectives in real-time!
It's clear that fans of Turtle Rock Studios' Left 4 Dead series will have a lot to like here, as it's clear it takes the Versus mode from that game and amps it up to previously unimagined levels. It's easily among our most anticipated games of the year and it should be yours, too.
Evolve will hit later in 2014 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC via Steam. Also don't forget that if you preorder the game you receive the Monster Expansion Pack (first DLC Monster and Goliath's Savage Skin) for free when they hit.
