Final Fantasy XVI is Square Enix's transition from a turn-based battle system to an action role-playing game that many fans are enjoying to the fullest.

But before you go diving into the world of Valisthea, there are some things that you should probably be aware of before playing Final Fantasy XVI. The game's story is an epic tale of political intrigue, love and loss, and magic.

The protagonist is Clive, who needs to use the best of his ability in order to prove himself successful in his quest for revenge. This guide gives out some tips and tricks that beginners should know before playing Final Fantasy XVI.

Master How To Dodge

The best way to survive against enemies is to not get hit at all and dodging is the way to do just that. This maneuver also gives your character a quick burst of movement as well as some brief invincibility frames, according to The Gamer.

Another thing to note is that if you are able to dodge an attack at the last second, you will perform what is known as a Precision Dodge. This can then be chained into a Precision Counter, which is a good source of reliable, consistent damage.

How To Parry

On top of being able to dodge attacks, Final Fantasy XVI players should also get a handle on the game's parry mechanics. While this can be a little bit riskier than dodging, it offers much greater rewards if timed perfectly.

You know that you performed a parry if you see that your character has slowed down through time mid-combat. You are able to parry if your basic attack lands shortly before an enemy's does.

Upgrade Potions

A little bit later in the story in Final Fantasy XVI, Clive will have the chance to upgrade the effectiveness and inventory space of his potions. This will greatly be beneficial while you are exploring and you should always be well-stocked before a major battle, said DualShockers.

There are a variety of accessories that you can equip in order to make your potions more effective on top of the usual upgrades that are available. Some even allow a basic potion to restore close to half of your max health.

Master Your Abilities

Clive will start the game off having access to a basic ability wheel along with special skills that are attuned to the Phoenix Eikon. However, you will later gain more Eikon powers that add skill commands.

You are able to switch between these abilities on the fly, such as going from Phoenix form to Garuda in an instant. It is also recommended to hold onto your ability points until you can buy the ultimate ability for each Eikon, which is usually the most expensive.

Do All Side Quests

As with many role-playing games, Final Fantasy XVI features a ton of side quests that players can complete for a variety of rewards. While some of these may sometimes be a hassle to finish, the rewards are almost always worth the trouble.

The rewards that they give out include experience points, Gil, and AP and they are one of the best ways to raise Clive's level and expand his skill set quickly, according to GameRant.
