The hype for Hollow Knight: Silksong is so high right now that Geoff Keighley has to confirm that the sequel will not be part of Gamescom Opening Night Live to keep the chaos down.

The situation comes as the fandom has been desperately looking for new information about the upcoming game that was originally announced half a decade ago. People have already been trying to squeeze out everything from each Nintendo Direct and State of Play even if the game is not mentioned.

Hollow Knight: Silksong at Opening Night Live

One of the most recent developments was when a certain individual claimed to be a lead tester on Hollow Knight: Silksong and said that it was not in development hell. Many people believed that the individual was playing with their emotions, according to PCGamer.

This is something that gives reasoning to Keighley's latest decision of confirming ahead of the event that there will be no mention of Hollow Knight: Silksong. There has been scarce information revealed about the game since it was announced five years ago.

While it is not necessarily the fault of developer Team Cherry for keeping information sealed about its own game, some fans have been hoping for a bit more update on their end. The last time that a trailer was shown off was in 2022, which is a long time since I saw anything new about the game.

Keighley's latest decision also comes as Opening Night Live has seen their chat overrun by requests for Hollow Knight: Silksong in recent years. This is mainly due to players who are hoping that it would actually make an appearance, said IGN.

Leaving Fans Disappointed

The disappointment that the latest confirmation left in fans of the franchise is similar to what happened during 2024's E3-esque video game summer showcases. These events also came by without a single word about Hollow Knight: Silksong.

The game is a sequel to the original Hollow Knight that focuses on Hornet and Team Cherry previously said that the character's adventure was originally intended to take place in a new land. However, as they got into it, it became too large and too distinct to even be a DLC.

While people will not be seeing Hollow Knight: Silksong at Opening Night Live, there are a variety of other titles that you can expect to hear from. These include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel Rivals, Black Myth: Wukong, as well as Dune Awakening, according to WCCFTech.
