Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Anniversary Edition is now available for pre-order at Amazon ahead of its official Oct. 8, 2024, release date for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

The package will cost players $74.99 but includes upgraded versions of the first six mainline entries in the Final Fantasy franchise. Those who purchase the collection will receive a pack-in bonus, which is a sticker sheet.

This includes 12 circular stickers that feature stunning sprite art of various characters featured within the games. Some of these are a Black Mage, a Moogle, Terra, Kane, and Kefka. On the other hand, the pack itself contains pixel remasters of the first six Final Fantasy titles.

Instead of simply doing a major artistic revamp like what Square Enix did for some of the other games in the series in the past, the latest collection is selectively updated to look amazing even on modern displays, according to IGN.

The games maintain their pixelated graphics but are much visually cleaner, which is a good thing whether you enjoy playing on a big screen or in handheld mode. Also, the games' soundtracks received orchestral upgrades from the original that were overseen by the original composer, Nobuo Uematsu.

The team also addressed some of the issues of the original games as well as rebalanced the difficulty. They added some quality-of-life options to turn off random encounters and increase experience and gil earned.

Prior to the latest news, fans of the Final Fantasy franchise in North America had to import the collection's physical edition. However, this usually meant that they would be paying a much higher price than they should be, said GameSpot.

Much-Needed Improvements

While the games themselves could be bought digitally on the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation store, stock for the physical edition was quickly sold out. Scalpers then began demanding higher prices for those who wanted their own copies.

On top of the visuals and soundtrack update, the collection also changes the fonts as the console release of Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Anniversary Edition will give players the option to switch between two different ones. These are the default ones and a new pixel-based font that recreates the feel of the original titles.

There is also a new auto-battle feature that allows you to make your characters automatically perform their last action and makes battles go by much faster than ever before, according to Gematsy.
