As Comic-Con International: San Diego comes, Marvel declares Doctor Doom as the next major villain for the Marvel Universe. This news was revealed during their "Next Big Thing" panel, which focused on some of the future storylines with Marvel past the current crossover event, "Blood Hunt.". It was announced Doctor Doom would be key to upcoming events in setting up a new era of Marvel's storytelling.

Doctor Doom is the Next Sorcerer Supreme
The finale of "Blood Hunt" shows Doctor Doom approaching Doctor Strange with a proposition. The villainous character tells the Sorcerer Supreme that he needs to relinquish the title, and in exchange, he will assist him in fighting back against an attacking vampire army that is terrorizing Earth.
Marvel has now confirmed that Doctor Strange would indeed pass the mantle over to Doom, who has been one of the plausible candidates who could have held this powerful role for so long. This shift brings about a new storyline titled "One World Under Doom" where Doctor Doom, now Sorcerer Supreme, is shown with many of Marvel's heroes, like Hulk, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, bowing before him.
Doom's Increasing Power in Marvel Universe
The "Next Big Thing" panel also showed an indication that Doctor Doom would recruit Spider-Man to be Earth's new magical guardian in the new "The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man" story arc. This storyline does make one think that few heroes will really be able to slip through the fingers of Doom in the Marvel Universe.
It begs the question: what are his plans? What will he do to the world's heroes? Many fans of Doctor Doom just can't wait to see how he's going to follow up being Sorcerer Supreme, as Marvel teased that "One World Under Doom" will start in 2025.
