Hades 2 Dev Launches Patch To Prepare for Roguelike's Upcoming Major Update

Hades 2 developer Supergiant Games just launched the roguelike's Patch 4 to prepare for the game's upcoming major update.

The latest patch includes a variety of bug fixes and adjustments, including balance changes that the studio wanted to get in before the update later this year. The full patch notes also revealed that the latest update is on the "smaller" side despite featuring a lot of stuff.

Some of the changes that stand out among the rest come alongside some minor boss spoilers. Two of the game's bosses have gotten small, but significant, adjustments. These are the first and final bosses of Hades 2's conventional dungeon dive.

Headmistress Hecate and Chronos are now "easier to strike from behind after certain moves." Chronos, for one, receives additional changes to the "sequencing of some moves." On the other hand, the majority of the inclusions in Patch 4 are fixes to various community-reported bugs.

There are also some narrative events with Nemesis and Moros that players reported "never playing" that got a fix. Other balance changes include tuning of the Phase Shift and Lunar Ray Hexes, according to GamesRadar.

The latest patch also included some general buffs, nerfs, and improvements to controls alongside cuts and complete reworks of some abilities. One example is Spirit Surge (Zeus) which has been reworked to now strike a nearby enemy with lightning when the player uses Magick.

Another ability, Family Trade (Hera), has been removed completely and replaced with Rousing Reception. The new ability will let players' casts do damage to enemies as soon as they enter an encounter regardless of their position.

The sheer amount of things that were included in the latest patch is a good sign that Supergiant Games is willing to use Hades 2's early access to play around with completely new and different ideas. This is even when it is forced to cut ideas entirely if they do not seem to be a good fit for the game.

Balance Changes and Bug Fixes

The developer is trying to make sure that the roguelike's early access experience is as smooth as possible for players. This is done by ironing out any issues that are reported and Supergiant Games itself said that the fixes were inspired by community feedback, said PCGamesN.

While the majority of the Boons & Blesses that have received some changes in Patch 4 mainly come from Hera and Zeus, there are also some from Hephaestus, Poseidon, and Apollo that were affected.

The latest patch also had some balance changes to Hades 2's Daedalus Hammer upgrades, with the majority of which receiving some improvements or getting some buffs. One example of this is Melting Shedder dealing more damage to armor. Another one is Inverted Spark's projectiles lasting longer.

Players who are diving into the roguelike's dungeon again and again will also notice that the Flames Crushing Comet is gone and has been replaced with Triple Comet.

Another that is worth noting is that Sister Blades (Melinoe) have had their damage increased whenever you strike enemies from behind, according to Siliconera.
