So much for Dunder Mifflin ever working with inFamous developer Sucker Punch. Second Son's Paper Trail mini-game comes to a close this Friday, and to keep from disappointing fans thinking they'd get a purdy new power allowing them to manipulate celluloid pulp...y'know...paper...the company revealed via Twitter that this just wouldn't be the case.
"Paper Trail concludes this Friday! Finish all 6 episodes and get Celia's mask and 4 custom Delsin jackets!" Sucker Punch tweeted earlier today. Obviously, the news that completion would only net players a mask and jackets came as something of a disappointment, expressed by several fans. "Well....that was a big lead-up to nothing," responded one fan to the news, and ".....Well....That....Kinda sucks......I expected the paper power. I hope the DLC gives us new powers!" from another.
There was enough of a response that Sucker Punch saw fit to follow up with a reason for the lack of a paper power, writing, "Paper Power would have been cool. Creating a new power set requires a lot of time.. Hope you enjoy the free content and new bonus items!"
As far as the power appearing as DLC, it's a possibility, but exact details haven't been revealed about any DLC as of yet. All that Second Son Director Nate Fox has said on the matter is to "think of it in the same kind of scope as our old Festival of Blood."
"When your core DNA is someone getting superpowers and using them for good and evil - that's pretty wide. It's as wide as superhero fiction. So it's easy to get excited when you think, oh - it could be a man or a woman. It could be old or young. It could be any country, in any time, and you can still get that kind of basic conceit."
"I would love to go and do a more mature thing," said Fox. "We try to be earnest in the way that characters interact with each other. It's emotionally real - and that reality, it's hard to not want to invest more in future titles as well."
As for additional powers, maybe some recently released concept art shows some possibilities...
