Command and Conquer Legions Launches Closed Beta

Command and Conquer Legions Launches Closed Beta

The Command and Conquer franchise is coming back, but not in the way that the majority of fans of the series are hoping for.

This is by way of the mobile game, Command and Conquer Legions, which launched in closed beta on July 5, 2024, Friday. The game is a mobile version of the strategy and RTS game and is still in development.

While Command and Conquer Legions has the looks of the classic titles, it has a very different gameplay where building and battling basically involves tapping your screen. There doesn't seem to be much strategy to it whatsoever.

This particular nuance, alongside the usual trappings of a free-to-play mobile game, makes Command and Conquer Legions difficult to love, even for long-time fans of the series. Despite this and other issues, the new game is still working on reviving Red Alert.

The first season of Command and Conquer Legions is based on an alternate timeline where Yuri was never actually defeated. This is where the game's version of the Cold War is also still raging on, according to PCGamesN.

The game's buildings, units, and characters are all returning classics from the beloved subseries, and Command and Conquer Legions adds a new roguelike-style mode. It also introduces skirmishing and UI improvements from earlier versions of the game.

The closed beta for the new Command and Conquer game was announced by Level Infinite and Electronic Arts. It noted that players in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, the Philippines, Mexico, Singapore, and Spain will be able to participate.

An official description of Command and Conquer Legions says that the game reimagines the classic game's elements for mobile devices. In the game's alternate timeline, the Red Alert Season sees the delicate balance between the Soviets and the Allies plunged into chaos and long-lasting confrontation.

It adds that Yuri instigates a full-scale war between the Soviet and Allied factions by stealing advanced technology after infiltrating the former. The developers also noted that players will be able to immerse themselves in the same style and tactics that the franchise is known for, said GodisaGeek.

Bringing Back Classic Elements

In Command and Conquer Legions, you will have to recruit heroes, build and amass large armies, and engage in intense tactical combat. Other features are collecting resources, developing bases, capturing strategic locations, and conquering cities that will help you with your goals.

The game features a lot of combat scenarios that players can involve themselves in, such as the Roguelike Mecha Mode. While Command and Conquer Legions was designed for mobile, the developers touted that it looks visually stunning.

For players who want to get into the closed beta and have pre-registered, there is a raffle where commanders can earn as much as 11 entries. They will have a chance to win exclusive in-game rewards, phones, and even Amazon gift cards.

This is done by pre-registering for the closed beta of the game and inviting friends to pre-register as well as following official social media channels, according to PlayerOne.
