New Marvel Rivals Trailer Reveals Web-Slinging Spider Man as Next Addition to Roster

Marvel Rivals shared a new trailer announcing the team-based hero shooter's next addition to its roster; the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Developer NetEase's latest trailer teases more of Spider-Man's unique offense as a duelist in Marvel Rivals. The web-slinging superhero swings into action and does everything that you would expect him to be capable of.

What is also worth noting with the reveal of the new character is that Spider-Man can run along walls, which gives him a distinct mode of traversal, especially in the heat of battle. Other than that, he can swing around the map, unleash a series of web-based attacks, and trap opponents with his ultimate ability.

The reveal trailer also showed off some of the various outfits that Spider-Man can wear to differentiate from other web-slinging users. One of these is having him dress up as the rebellious Spider-Punk while another is the bombastic Bag-Man.

For those who watched the trailer and heard Spider-Man's voice lines, they can be left feeling nostalgic. This is because Yuri Lowenthal, from Sony's recent Spider-Man games, is the one voicing the character in Marvel Rivals, according to GameSpot.

Marvel Rivals was first announced for PC earlier this year and it will also be getting a version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Spider-Man is only one of the many iconic superheroes that are playable.

Players who are looking forward to the game should try and sign up for the console closed beta that will start on July 23, 2024.

This has been described as a "large-scale" test that will be held in North America, Europe, and other unspecified regions. Furthermore, the PlayStation 5 version will offer players an exclusive Scarlet Spider costume for Spider-Man.

Being a Duelist class superhero, Spider-Man joins the likes of Black Panther, Star-Lord, The Punisher, and other characters. These heroes' abilities are designed to put out as much damage as possible.

A Damage-Dealing Specialist

Compared to other similar hero shooters, like Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals' Duelist class is the DPS character. The game features other classes, such as Vanguards, who are the tanks, and Strategists, who provide support, said ComicBook.

Spider-Man's dexterity and speed were put on full display in the reveal trailer which showed him pulling enemies with his webs. While the footage lasted less than a minute, it gave fans of the game some new gameplay highlights of the upcoming character.

On top of being able to yank enemies out of position, which is useful in picking off low-HP characters, Spider-Man can also move to new locations with ease. While the web-slinging hero was the focus of the latest trailer, the video also showed a little of Marvel Rivals' destructible environments.

Players can see an archway collapsing as Spider-Man dodges shots from enemy heroes and there is also a part where players get a view of the Tokyo 2099 map. This is one that NetEase Games had previously showcased in earlier teasers.

Other than Spider-Man, the game will also feature Venom and Peni Parker as playable characters from their respective universes, according to ComingSoon.
