The developer behind A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, Stormind Games, alongside publisher Saber Interactive, shared the game's first story trailer that sets up a terrifying tale of horror.

The latest footage showcased more of the upcoming first-person horror title's alien-infested world. The new trailer also makes it seem like the game itself will be another scary new addition to the A Quiet Place movie universe.

While A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead does not yet have an official release date, it is said to be launching sometime this year and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The latest story trailer also revealed more about the state of the world in the game.

It seems that the story begins on Day One, when the aliens, brought by asteroids, crash into Earth and begin rampaging across the world. The creatures possess incredible hearing that has forced people to remain silent in order to avoid them and survive, according to GameInformer.

The footage then jumps to Day 105 of the story and features Alex, an asthmatic college student who is just trying to survive the end of the world. She is accompanied by her boyfriend Martin and they are out on the hunt for supplies and more.

The story trailer later shows that Alex, the protagonist of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, is seemingly pregnant after taking a test. As seen in the first A Quiet Place film, this is something that makes remaining silent much more difficult.

Alex being asthmatic follows the usual trope in the A Quiet Place universe where there are some quirks that make being quiet even harder. These include a character who is deaf, a newborn, or even a pet animal.

An official description of the game explained that A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a single-player horror adventure that was inspired by the critically acclaimed movie franchise. The game highlights a unique survivor story following the sudden invasion of the alien creatures, said ComicBook.

A Terrifying Story Setting

In the game, players will be able to experience the journey of a young woman who is forced to endure a treacherous apocalypse in the middle of interpersonal family conflicts. All of this comes as she has to come to terms with her own inner fears.

Because developer Stormind Games is sticking true to the movie franchise's setting, the requirement of not making a sound could lead to interesting combat mechanics. Another thing that makes the alien creatures terrifying is that their bodies are nearly indestructible to common weapons.

The use of sonic weapons is needed but in order to take one down, players will have to sneak around the entire playthrough as quietly as they can. While this seems to be similar to Amnesia: The Bunker and Alien: Isolation, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is more story-driven.

On top of this, the upcoming game also has a semi-open world, which gives you more room to explore and also more chances to fail at staying quiet to avoid the alien creatures, according to GameRant.
