There is some good news for Resident Evil fans as it has been confirmed that Resident Evil 9 is in development. The confirmation is made by none other than the director of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Koshi Nakanishi.
"We're making a new Resident Evil," Nakanishi said.
As a matter of fact, Nakanishi is the one leading the development of the game. The confirmation was made at the end of Capcom Next.
Nakanishi Doesn't Share Details
Despite confirming that a wholly new Resident Evil game is in the works, Nakanishi did not divulge any more details.
"It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil] 7," Nakanishi explained. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial."
"I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can," he added.

Resident Evil 9: What We Know So Far
Previous revelations have been made that can pinpoint to the direction that Resident Evil 9 may be heading. According to a report by ComicBook.com, the story of Resident Evil will be veering away from the Winters Saga, which revolved around the character of Ethan Winters. The story featured in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village.
While this can signal the return of a character from previous games, it can also lead to a whole new story featuring new characters as well. However, ComicBook.com notes that rumors have claimed that the upcoming game will be an open world one that will be set on an island.
