Reggie: The Game, or to use its full title, Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists, and Most Likely the End of the World, is a gravity-defying platformer that will be released sometime in 2025.
While the use of gravity is not something new among platformers, as Super Mario Galaxy is one of the prime examples, it is nevertheless a fun approach to the genre. Giving players the ability to manipulate gravity throughout an entire game is something that hasn't been revisited a lot.
A Unique 2D Platformer
But an early hands-on preview for Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists, and Most Likely the End of the World is anything to go by, it performs much better in the modern era. The game is a 2D platformer that was developed by Dutch studio Degoma.
The game lets players navigate various stages by flipping the world's gravity, which effectively allows you to zip to the ceiling and back down again. You can also zig-zag in mid-air and bop enemies on the head as you travel through, according to NintendoLife.
Degoma's upcoming title is similar to another game, VVVVVV, in some aspects, but the ability to flip the gravity of the world while you're in mid-air and utilize physics to manipulate your momentum is something new.
The founders of Degoma, siblings Gloria and Frank Garcia, talked about the game during the hands-on preview that showcased 25 levels via an early PC build.
While that particular session only had a small chunk of the full game, many of the people who were able to play left feeling excited and optimistic about the game.

However, there were some complaints about a few parts of the game that players are hoping will get addressed before the game's full launch next year. One of the things that you will notice with Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists, and Most Likely the End of the World, is its charming presentation.
The game was first announced in June 2020 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The official description reads that you will go on a mind-bending adventure, said Gematsu.
Power Over the Forces of Gravity
Another key feature of the game is that players can choose to either tackle the game's challenges solo or team up with a friend. The latter will play as Reggie's cousin in the co-op mode that will be available in the full game.
Players will control Reggie as he travels through time and teams up with some unexpected allies as he works to ensure that the scientific discoveries of the past remain intact. Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists, and Most Likely the End of the World has an epic story with a hilarious twist.
Using the Multi-Gravity Switch mechanic, you can jump on consecutive enemies and the more you do so without touching the ground, Reggie will be rewarded with various abilities. These include speed boosts, temporary invincibility, and enhanced power over gravity, according to Nintendo Insider.
On top of its adorable visuals, innovative mechanics, and epic story, the game also has nearly an hour of fully animated and voiced cutscenes.
