Destiny 2's Iron Banner Event Now Lasts Two Weeks, Adds Major Changes

Destiny 2's Iron Banner event is returning on July 2 with big changes. For the first time, the event will last two weeks instead of one. This change comes with the release of The Final Shape expansion.

Extended Duration and New Modes

Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, shared details in their latest blog post, This Week in Destiny. Usually, Iron Banner features a single game mode for its week-long run. However, the new two-week event will feature different modes each week. In the first week, players will compete in Control, a mode similar to "king of the hill." In the second week, the event will switch to Tribute, which is like Supremacy where players collect crests from fallen opponents.

Easier Progression and New Weapons

The extension of Destiny 2's Iron Banner to two weeks aims to make the event less stressful. Players will have more time to increase their reputation, complete Triumph Seals, and earn unique rewards. In the past, the one-week duration required intense gameplay to get the most out of the event. With two weeks, the grind should be more manageable for those seeking special gear.

In addition to the extended duration, Destiny 2's Iron Banner will introduce two new weapons. Players can earn an updated version of Cimril's Dagger, a Kinetic hand cannon with improved stats and new perks. Another addition is Claws of the Wolf, a rapid-fire Void pulse rifle, now featuring the latest perks from The Final Shape expansion.

Bungie has made it easier to obtain these weapons. Players must rank up their reputation with Lord Saladin, the Iron Banner vendor. Cimril's Dagger unlocks at Rank 4 and Claws of the Wolf at Rank 7. Once these ranks are reached, players can focus their Iron Banner engrams on the weapon of their choice. Wins now guarantee a random Iron Banner weapon and have a high chance of awarding an Iron Banner engram, while defeats also have higher drop rates for both.

To help players earn rewards, wearing Iron Banner armor, equipping Iron Banner emblems, and using Iron Banner weapons will grant reputation boosts during matches. These changes aim to make acquiring new gear easier and the overall event more enjoyable for players.

Destiny 2's Iron Banner event now offers a fresh and more rewarding experience, with its extended duration, new game modes, and simpler progression paths.
