Pre-orders are now open for The Legend of Zelda; Echoes of Wisdom, the latest game in the franchise that was first revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct.
The game stars the titular Zelda, the princess, which marks the first time that she has become the protagonist of her own game. It does away with Link, a Hyrulian, who has apparently found himself pulled inside a mysterious rift, leaving the princess on her lonesome.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Pre-Orders
The upcoming game nods to Zelda's ownership of the Triforce of Wisdom and it makes use of the same vibrant visual style that was seen in the Nintendo Switch version of Link's Awakening.
It also seems like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will offer a sprawling world for players to explore from a top-down perspective.
The latest entry in the franchise will be released on Sept. 26, 2024, and will come alongside a new Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch Lite console. This limited-edition unit is not yet available for pre-order, according to GameSpot.
There is only a standard version of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and it will not have any special editions. A game where the princess is the protagonist and is the one that players control is something that fans of the series have been asking for years.

What makes the game stand out is the use of so-called echoes that are created using Zelda's Tri wand. She can summon items and enemies that she has previously encountered to help her fight against other foes, solve puzzles, or reach previously inaccessible areas.
This particular feature seems like it is going to require players to be a little bit creative with how they use the echoes themselves. This is probably not going to be difficult for those who played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
A Twist in the Zelda Formula
The limited-edition Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch Lite has a gold casing with black buttons and sticks. It also features a tiny Triforce symbol under the right stick and the back of the unit has a larger version of the winged Triforce Zelda symbol, said IGN.
For those who buy this particular Switch unit, they will also get a 12-month individual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. This means that they will also be able to play a lot of other classic titles from Game Boy, NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy Advance titles.
Even though Link seems to have been removed from the game entirely, some fans of the series believe that he will eventually become a playable character in the new game. However, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will most likely focus on the princess more often than not.
What Link could be used for, then, is a sort of window into the nature of the game's mysterious antagonistic force.
Some people have already started to speculate that the various rifts lead to some other alternative dimension and that by controlling Link, you can explore these areas, according to GameRant.
