Unique Features of the Ley Pylon
Stormhaven took extra time to ensure the city Monolith is special. They emphasized the need for distinctiveness to prevent creatures and exiles from invading. The Ley Pylon is a collaborative feature, allowing everyone on the server to work together to activate it. Once activated, it will enable Monolith travel for a few days in real-time. This activation persists through server resets or downtime, with opportunities for reactivation in the future.
Performance Improvements and Quality of Life Updates
The update also brings several improvements. The game engine has been upgraded from Unity 2021 to 2022, enhancing performance on Mac OS and fixing various issues. The team has improved visual effects (VFX), added custom settings for each NPC, and enhanced non-alchemy abilities' visuals. Scene loading has been reworked to reduce performance issues, spreading the loading process over multiple frames to prevent the client from locking up.
Quality of life changes continue to be a focus for Embers Adrift. The health regeneration system has been revamped, allowing players to regenerate health at all times, including a small amount during combat. While in-combat regeneration is minimal, out-of-combat regeneration is faster, reducing downtime as players progress through levels.
Additionally, the team has smoothed out the Gathering progression and made Dense resource nodes more efficient. These nodes now have updated visuals to make them easily distinguishable.
