Super Mario Party Jamboree Will Feature Multiplayer Mode of Up To 20 Players

The recent Nintendo Direct presentation featured the reveal of Super Mario Party Jamboree which features multiplayer support of up to 20 players and will release on Oct. 17, 2024.

The game will reportedly be available on Nintendo Switch when it launches as the latest entry in the long-running Mario Party series. The new game is themed around an island resort and will feature large maps like a race track known as Roll 'Em Raceway.

It also has map-specific mechanics and a hazardous volcanic board known as Goomba Lagoon with environmental hazards. There are five brand-new boards and Mario's Rainbow Castle from Mario Party 1 and Western Land from Mario Party 2 will be part of the roster for the new title.

Super Mario Party Jamboree will feature more than 110 minigames, a few of which will take advantage of Joy-Con motion controls for an immersive gaming experience. There will also be a separate online competitive mode that up to 20 players can join to play the minigames, according to IGN.

The new announcement comes as the last Mario Party game Mario Party Superstars was released in 2021. That particular game was considered a celebration of the series's long history.

Mario Party Superstars included five classic boards, 100 of the series' best minigames, as well as a lot of throwbacks that made many players feel nostalgic. It was also considered to be the best Mario Party game in quite a while and was a big jump from its predecessor, Super Mario Party.

The new boards in Super Mario Party Jamboree are a multilevel mall complete with flash sales called Rainbow Galleria. There is also a Goomba Lagoon map that has a beach that changes with the tide. There is also the simpler-looking board known as Mega Wiggler's Tree Party.

The announcement trailer for the game also showed off a new Koopathalon mode where players can compete against 19 other players online. The footage also teased other modes but did not specify what they were, said CNET.

Playing With up to 19 Other People

While no official price tag has been revealed for Super Mario Party Jamboree so far, some people have speculated that it could cost $59.99 following the typical Nintendo pricing. The announcement trailer features Kamek, the magical Goomba, saying that it is a bigger and bolder Mario Party title.

Among the revealed boards included in the game are two returning while the others are completely new. In Roll 'Em Raceway, players are seen traversing the board while riding racing karts. It also features a new mechanic where you are able to move up to 40 spaces depending on the roll of the dice.

The minigames in Super Mario Party Jamboree mark the largest number ever seen in any title in the series but it was not shown how many of these would be returning classics. Many players are hoping that their favorites will make a comeback in the new game.

But so far, all of the minigames that were seen seem to be typical of the Mario Party theme and offer various challenges and puzzles for players to overcome.

While playable characters have not been officially confirmed, some characters that were seen include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and many others, according to ScreenRant.
