The new project is reportedly being developed by Akatsuki Games and is so far titled Kaiju No. 8 THE Game. The upcoming game will be available via Apple's App Store, Google Play, and Valve's gaming platform, Steam.

The popular anime first aired on TV Tokyo on Apr. 13, 2024, and an English subtitle version, as well as an English dubbed version, are being streamed on Crunchyroll as the episodes air.

The anime is also streaming on X, formerly known as Twitter, and worldwide in real-time as it airs on TV in Japan, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.

The director of the anime is Shigeyuki Miya and the series composition and screenplay are being managed by Ichiro Okouchi. The one responsible for character design is Tetsuya Nishio, who is also the chief animation director.

When it comes to monster design, the game has Mahiro Maeda and the art director is Shinji Kimura while the music is composed by Yuta Bando. All of these names have working experience with a number of franchises, including Naruto, Code Geass, and Onihei.

The anime's opening theme song "Abyss" will also be performed by British singer YUNGBLUD while American pop-rock group OneRepublic will perform the ending theme song "Nobody."

The original manga was made by Naoya Matsumoto and was serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital manga platform. There is an English language version that is also available from VIZ Media.

The World of Kaiju No. 8

The description of the manga on Crunchyroll reads that its world is plagued by dangerous creatures that are known as Kaiju. The main protagonist, Kafka Hibino, had aspired to be enlisted in The Defense Force, said Crunchyroll.

He had made a promise with his childhood friend, Mina Ashira, to enlist together in The Defense Force but life soon takes them in separate ways. While Kafka is employed as a clean-up personnel after battles with Kaiju, he meets another character, Reno Ichikawa.

The latter's determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka's promise to join Mina and protect humanity from the Kaiju force. In the game's announcement trailer, Kafka is featured in his signature Kaiju form and preparing for battle against a massive enemy.

Other cameos that were shown off in the trailer include Kikoru Shinomiya, the granddaughter of the Director General of The Defense Force, Isao Shinomiya. Despite the release of the first official trailer, there is no release date or window yet for the game.

Before the reveal of the game, it has been teased for days prior with a cryptic visual of a 3D Kafka in his Kaiju form. The game is the latest in a series of announcements for the highly popular series, following the revelation of the manga spinoff Kaiju No. 8: Relax, according to CBR.
