Patent filings today by Sony reveal the titles of two new games that are presumably in development for PlayStation 4 or PS Vita.
The names Entwined and Kill Strain were both registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Sony earlier this month, but that's the sum of our knowledge on what look to be two new properties coming to PlayStation systems. The news comes from an astute NeoGaf user who spotted the patents.
Both titles were filed with "computer game software" and "video game software" tags with the patent office, so it's more than a safe assumption at this point that these are unannounced games. New properties are always exciting (even when we have no idea what they're about!), and maybe we'll hear official news about Entwined and/or Kill Strain at the upcoming E3 this summer.
These unannounced games could be available for any of Sony's consoles, including PS3. They are not going to abandon the system entirely just yet, but I also doubt new IPs are still in the early development stages for PS3. The last-generation console is more likely to only see major franchises and big multi-platform releases head its way as time goes on, and as such I would bet on these titles coming to PS4 or PS Vita.
IGN points out that we've heard about new games this way before they were officially announced in the past, such as with The Order: 1886. Keep an eye out for word from Sony on either of these titles in the weeks leading up to E3.
