A Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is reportedly in the works after years of being speculated following a leak that featured a list of games.
The issue with the recent discussions surrounding the remaster is that they were initially shared by leaker Midori, who recently admitted to being a blacklisted male American leaker. He had disguised himself as a Japanese woman and posted using broken English to feign his identity.
Rumors of a Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster
All of this led to many people being skeptical about his suggestions about the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster. On top of this, it was found that he had made inaccurate claims about upcoming RPG Visions of Mana.
However, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier jumped into the discussion to add weight to the claims, saying that the remaster is real and is happening. His report was brief and contrasted comments made by Final Fantasy Tactics director Yasumi Matsuno in December last year.
At the time, the latter told a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, that there were no plans for remastering the game.
But if a remaster for Final Fantasy Tactics does come out on PC, it would be the first time that the 1997 spin-off becomes available to play on a platform other than the PlayStation, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.
In 2007, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions was released and was a revamped version of the original game. It featured full-motion cutscenes, an expanded roster of characters, and multiplayer support. It also featured a 16:9 resolution and was released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP).

So far, the closest that Final Fantasy Tactics has come to PC is MMO Final Fantasy XIV, which used the former's world of Ivalice, which is shared with Final Fantasy 12, and an alternative storyline as inspiration for the Return to Ivalice series of raids.
Final Fantasy Tactics itself follows the story of Ramza Beoulve and his companions as they journey and navigate political intrigue, war, and hidden agendas.
The game was highly praised for its deep, strategic gameplay that involved grid-based battles and a complex job system that allowed for extensive character customization.
A Highly Celebrated Game
Despite Square Enix being responsible for the release of many successful tactical RPGs, fans have, for years, wished that the studio would develop a remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics. The recent series of good news, while still speculative, seems to benefit these players, said GameRant.
Another reason that fans are excited about the possible remaster is that the Final Fantasy 14 director previously revealed that Square Enix is working on multiple unannounced games. The chance that one of these is the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is not yet guaranteed.
Square Enix also has a renewed interest in tactical RPGs as of late, including titles like Triangle Strategy and Tactics Ogre: Reborn. This particular resurgence of games in the genre makes a remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics a perfect fit for the studio's latest lineup.
And with the Tokyo Game Show being scheduled to be held in September later this year, fans could get some more information regarding the rumors soon, according to MyNintendoNews.
