Over the weekend, Starfield took center stage at the Xbox Games Showcase. Bethesda showcased the upcoming Shattered Space expansion, giving fans an exciting glimpse of new adventures. Alongside this, they launched the Starfield Creation Kit, a free tool for players to create and share their own game content. However, while Shattered Space was well-received, the introduction of paid content through the Creation Kit has sparked controversy.

Players React to Paid Missions
In a recent update, Bethesda announced the addition of new missions to Starfield, starting with the Tracker Alliance series. The first mission, "The Starjacker," introduces players to bounty hunting in the Settled Systems. While this initial mission is free, the second mission, "The Vulture," costs $7. This purchase requires players to buy 1,000 Starfield creation credits, priced at $10.
Fans quickly expressed their frustration on the official Starfield Reddit. Comments ranged from jokes to outright anger. One user quipped, "Is Shattered Space actually just two quests in a trenchcoat? Probably not." Another bluntly stated, "Charging $7 per quest is incredibly st*pid."
Mixed Reviews on Steam
The backlash has extended beyond Reddit. Players have been "review-bombing" Starfield on Steam, leading to a mixed overall rating. Many negative reviews specifically mention the additional charges for new missions as a primary complaint.
Bethesda has not yet responded to the growing criticism.
