City 20 Offers a Unique Survival Experience With NPCs Who Have Distinct Behavioral Patterns

City 20 is an upcoming survival game developed by Untold Games that brings a unique experience to the genre with its NPCs that have distinct behavioral patterns.

The game is set inside a quarantined city where a group of survivors have built a desperate society cut off from the rest of the world. They are now living within the confines of a building following a disaster and subsequent evacuation.

Another key feature of the game is its focus on hunger and thirst, where going several hours without food and water could be dangerous for your character. In the early stages of the game, you will be tasked with getting a generator up and running again to provide electricity.

You are then given a fuel can to fill and the first objective you have is simple but made relatively difficult due to a variety of factors. These include not having a map or directions to where you actually need to go in order to advance the quest, according to PCGamer.

But probably the biggest feature in the game is that NPCs will remember who you are and what you have done, which makes them all react in unique ways. Some of them will like that you helped their friends while others will think low of you and maybe even see you as their enemy.

Maybe some of them will also have different politics compared to you, viewing helping other people as a sign of weakness, not strength. This particular feature is what makes City 20 probably the most realistic survival game in the genre in the last few years.

Inside the quarantined city, every person barters to trade and a militia is working to keep the peace within the walls. There are also several groups that have access to the various resources that are available. Despite all of this, the main goal of City 20 is actually for you to find a way to escape.

Distinct and Dynamic NPCs

Similar to other survival games, you are able to farm for food and scavenge for resources in dilapidated old buildings. However, you will also have to contend with a variety of threats, including NPCs who will steal from your garden, said PCGamesN.

In this particular example, you have several options on what to do if you catch them in the act. But one thing to remember is that they will remember how you deal with them, whether you let them go or punish them.

Each NPC in the game has its own life, will go to sleep at different times, build relationships, and do whatever the player can do. This creates a supremely dynamic and more often than not an impossible to predict situation at any moment in the game.

With regards to the crafting and survival elements of the game, they are relatively simple and the focus is on conserving resources and not overtaxing the environment around you. The developers game one example, which is harvesting too many deer or rabbits in the wild.

This would then lead to local foxes and wolves becoming increasingly more aggressive toward humans because their food source has been compromised, according to IGN.
