Xbox chief Phil Spencer sparked even more criticism from players after the announcement of more exclusives coming to PlayStation 5 and other platforms.
Earlier this year, Microsoft revealed that four Xbox-exclusive games were planned to launch on PlayStation 5 and some on the Nintendo Switch. This left fans wondering if it would only be the four titles or if there were others that would follow suit.
Xbox Exclusives Coming to PlayStation 5
During a recent interview, Spencer took the opportunity to clear up that particular mystery that fans have focused on for quite some time. He said that they are committed to Xbox customers by giving them the opportunity to buy or subscribe to games.
On the other hand, he also noted that they will be supporting the games on other screens for other players to enjoy. Spencer said that people will see more of their games on different platforms, adding that it is a benefit to the franchises that they are building, according to The Verge.
The confirmation that there would be more games coming to rival platforms despite being Xbox exclusives comes a few months after Spencer denied that there was a change to Microsoft's strategy of Xbox exclusives.
During a podcast earlier this year, he said that they made a decision that they would take four games to the other consoles and only those four games. The situation also comes after Microsoft unveiled a collection of new Xbox games during its recent big showcase event.

The titles that were showcased include Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day, which are probably the highlights of the event. The developments are said to be part of Microsoft's internal "Project Latitude" where it considers a number of games for rival platforms.
One particular title, Doom: The Dark Ages, was confirmed to be coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. Many fans were surprised to learn about this and Spencer argued that the decision was made because the franchise has a history on "so many devices," said Kotaku.
Mixed Player Reactions
The Xbox chief said that Doom is a franchise that everybody, on different platforms, deserves to play at some point. He added that he was previously in a meeting with ID Software executive producer Marty Stratton and his team a couple of years ago.
The situation comes as the recent Xbox Games Showcase was relatively successful in attracting a lot of players and hype to the video game industry. Titles such as Fable made their way through as well as Perfect Dark finally being shown to the public.
This comes amid various studio closures and it is no secret that Xbox itself has also had some difficulties in getting to where it is now. However, the decision to release exclusives to other platforms has resulted in some fans switching their fandom.
On the other hand, others have doubled down on their love for the platform in celebration of recent decisions regarding the multiplatform strategy. Spencer also talked about the direction that Xbox is heading towards, saying that they want everyone to play, according to WindowsCentral.
