He said that this included the ability to undo moves or redo an entire turn from scratch which provides players with the freedom to tinker with different mechanics and abilities. Sheffield added that they are looking forward to seeing new ideas that they have never even thought of play out on the battlefield.

The official description of Demonschool reads that you will have to survive a semester of screams as college freshman Faye. She is the final heir of the last practicing demon-hunting family.

After the main protagonist arrives at a mysterious island university, she discovers supernatural investigations on her syllabi. With Faye's newfound allies, she will have to battle imps, demons, and class discussion boards to close the gap between the two worlds before it's too late, according to Gematsu.

In Demonschool, players can form a demon-busting battle party by befriending 15 different playable characters who are equipped with unique sets of abilities. You can employ Knute to heal allies and cure poisons or invoke Destin to kick foes as far back as possible with his snorts.

You will have to carefully balance class schedules, combat training, side quests, extracurriculars, and more in order to boost your classmates' skill sets while still working to pass your midterms.

The game lets you prepare your party's movies in the Planning phase while also mindfully placing classmates in advantageous positions to make use of their strengths.

You can also set or rewind movements to build the perfect turn and then confirm with the Action phase. You then watch the attacks, heals, and striking combos play out simultaneously.

A Blend of School Life and Tactical RPG Mechanics

The reveal of Demonschool's release comes following a delay that pushed the game out of its original 2023 window. The title blends school life into a tactical RPG filled with Italian horror cinema vibes and Nintendo DS-inspired graphics, said NintendoLife.

Based on the latest trailer, it seems that Demonschool has a bit of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei mixed in wrapped up in a package that certainly feels unique. The official description also notes 2D and 3D art colliding in a chess-like purgatory that has intense boss battles for players to face.

Ahead of the official launch, some players were able to dive into Demonschool with less than an hour of gameplay to experience. In that short time, the game was able to show just how charming it is.

One review noted that the game's clever character writing pulled a couple of laughs that were relatively unexpected. Additionally, the art and UI design of the game is beautiful and the combat is a stunning take on turn-based strategies, according to PCGamer.
