Wonder Woman Game Reportedly Facing Development Troubles After Years of Work

Development on the new AAA Wonder Woman game is reportedly facing some troubles following years of work.

The studio working on the project, Monolith Productions, could be having some difficulties with its current project. Kinda Funny Gamescast host Greg Miller referenced an insider he talked to regarding the situation.

Miller said that the game is troubled, which is all that he said he would reveal regarding the issue at hand. A few days after his comments, which were made during a podcast, Monolith Productions announced that it was hiring.

The studio is specifically looking for an individual who will fill the role of lead gameplay engineer, which suggests that leads credence to Miller's claims about the Wonder Woman game.

The role in the job opening requires quite a bit of experience and the person that will be chosen will have a lot of responsibility as far as game development goes.

The fact that Monolith Productions is looking for a person to fill such a crucial role this late in the development stage suggests that the previous personnel is no longer with the studio. It could also be a reflection of how the Wonder Woman game's development is going, according to GameSpot.

The upcoming game was first revealed during The Game Awards in 2021 and while fans of the iconic heroine have hoped for another showcase in last year's award ceremony, nothing new was announced.

The only other update that people have gotten so far is that Monolith Productions confirmed the Wonder Woman game will not be a live-service title. This was previously a rumor that began last year due to a different job posting by the studio.

When Monolith Productions first unveiled the Wonder Woman game, it also shared a brief teaser that showed off the iconic heroine wielding the Lasso of Truth. The video itself was narrated by the character's mother, Hippolyta.

The video game studio based in Kirkland, Washington, also confirmed that the game was envisioned as an open-world game. On top of his simple comment regarding the game, Miller also said that he expects the title will likely not appear at the upcoming Summer Game Fest 2024, said GameRant.

Facing Some Troubles

DC Comics is sure to be disappointed by the potential situation of the game as they are eager to see more about Monolith Productions' current project.

Additionally, the Wonder Woman game was said to make use of the Nemesis System that was made famous by the Lord of the Rings titles and was patented by Warner Bros.

The official plot synopsis of the game reads that it is a single-player open-world action game that will introduce players to an original story that is set in the DC Universe.

It will also allow you to take control of Diana of Themyscira as she fights in order to unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world.

Monolith Productions' job listing in 2022 suggested that the game could feature "procedural storytelling." However, that could actually have more to do with the Nemesis System and its ability to create narratives based on the enemies in the game, according to The Gamer.
