Geoff Keighley, who is responsible for putting together Summer Game Fest, talked about the upcoming presentation and what it would focus on.
The Summer Game Fest has become the sort of self-appointed heir since E3's demise and live streams in the past years have brought major reveals. These include 2021's Elden Ring gameplay and many gamers are expecting more from the presentation.
Summer Games Fest: What To Expect
Keighley noted that this year's Summer Game Fest will have trailers and announcements that are related to games that players already know about rather than major reveals of unannounced titles.
He also recently talked about some "expectation setting" for the Summer Games Fest presentation this year.
Keighley said that while the two-hour showcase will have a lot of trailers to show, it mostly consists of games that already exist and will give new updates to fans. He added that there will also be new content revealed for released games.
Keighley said that this year's presentation will not show a lot of things that will be coming in 2026 or 2027 or even contain teasers for games that will not be released until years later, according to PCGamer.
For now, there is already some information on what could be included in this year's Summer Game Fest. Keighley was also candid when he said that players who are looking for surprise announcements are more likely to find them at The Game Awards at the end of the year.

Unlike in the summer, the major publishers do not always have their own events for major reveals of various titles or new content. Because of this, Keighley said that The Game Awards have a "lot of usually big surprises" while the Summer Games Fest focuses largely on announced stuff.
Fortunately, for those who are looking for game previews, there are a lot of other showcases that are running throughout the week. Some of these could actually include things that people are looking for in the long term.
Games That are Not Included
Keighley also confirmed that there will be a lot of highly anticipated games that will not be touched on during this year's Summer Games Fest. These include Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Kingdom Hearts 4, and The Wolf Among Us 2, said Rock Paper Shotgun.
It actually makes sense that the largest reveals in the video game industry will not be defaulting to Keighley's presentation. This is particularly true given the splintered state of the summer games bonanza in the past few years.
Even before the end of E3, there have been many publishers who have started to host their own events where bigger announcements are traditionally made.
But some of the titles that will be featured in the Summer Games Fest 2024 include Monster Hunter WIlds, Kingdom Come 2: Deliverance, and Metaphor: Refantazio.
One of the biggest titles that will also not be making the cut for this year's Summer Games Fest is Grand Theft Auto VI. Another one is Judas, which was initially revealed at The Game Awards in 2022, according to IGN.
