Video game publisher Dotemu and developer Leikir Studio revealed an official release window for their upcoming game, Metal Slug Tactics, which is set to come out this fall.
The game was initially revealed at E3 in 2021 and since then it has been hit with delays before going quiet in the past few months. But now, the developer and publisher of the game have revealed an official release window along with a new trailer.

For those who do not know much about Metal Slug Tactics, it is the latest entry in the iconic side-scrolling shooter franchise but has been given an isometric tactical makeover.
Players will have to build their rosters of characters from a selection of familiar Metal Slug faces. You will also have to call on your troops' unique skills on the battlefield to defeat enemies and bosses.
An early look at the upcoming game suggests that it has combined all of these mechanics inside a pixel-art-focused package that features a soundtrack made by Shredder's Revenge and Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes, according to NintendoLife.
The game is the first tactical RPG in the Metal Slug franchise where players will experience a huge replayability with its die-and-retry roguelite progression. Metal Slug Tactics also boasts amazing pixel art visuals, which is a heartfelt tribute to the series as a whole.
In Metal Slug Tactics, you will be able to battle Morden's Army on more than 100 hand-crafted maps and 20 different types of missions. You can also choose from nine iconic characters to build your perfect team.

The game also features 36 different weapons that you can use as well as 176 different weapon mods that give you customization options for battles. There are also 36 loadouts and combos that let you experiment with how to outwit your foes.
The latest announcement of the release window comes as Metal Slug Tactics was originally set to launch in 2022 before being delayed to 2023 and then delayed again. The recently released trailer also highlighted a few of the playable characters in the upcoming game, said ComicBook.
A New Take for the Classic Franchise
The upcoming game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. The original franchise was renowned for its fast-paced action focus, vibrant pixel graphics, and challenging gameplay.
The series was first released in 1996 and quickly drew in a loyal fanbase as players can take control of several characters and battle through hordes of enemies, tanks, and later on, aliens. The franchise is also popular for its humor, frantic gameplay, and memorable characters.
Metal Slug Tactics promises to combine the classic games' explosive charm and nostalgic fun with modern strategic elements. Fans will be able to get their hands on a demo that will become available for a limited time on PC via Steam from June 10 to June 17 during the Steam Next Fest.
In the upcoming game, players can lead their squad to victory as they accumulate experience to unlock new weapons and perks that will boost their team's firepower and tactical skills, according to GameRant.
