God of War: Ragnarok Confirmed Coming to PC Along With PSN Login Requirement

God of War: Ragnarok has been confirmed to be coming to PC in the future along with a PSN login requirement during Sony's State of Play 2024.

The latest news makes the title the latest PlayStation exclusive to become available to PC players as it joins its predecessor on Steam. It is scheduled to be made available on PC on Sept. 19, 2024.

The announcement also revealed that God of War: Ragnarok will be playable alongside Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and other PlayStation games that have been Steam Deck verified. It is also expected to feature the new PlayStation overlay.

This includes shared trophies and more features that were introduced with Sucker Punch's samurai adventure game.

It is also worth noting that Sony confirmed God of War: Ragnarok will arrive with unlimited framerate, UltraWide support, and support for Nvidia DLSS 3.7/AMD FSR 3.1/Intel XESS 1.3, according to IGN.

The latest trailer also confirmed that much to the dismay of fans, the game will require a PlayStation Network account to play all of its features. God of War: Ragnarok follows the stories of Kratos and his son, Atreus, who is now a teenager.

The game previously won numerous awards following its release and also received free DLC that introduced a new roguelike mode to players. Prior to the latest announcement, the game's PC release has been something that fans have been anticipating for quite some time.

It is also worth noting that God of War 2018 is a highly-rated game on Steam and currently has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" review summary. This has fans hoping that the same will be true for God of War: Ragnarok when it finally releases on Valve's gaming platform.

One controversial part of the announcement is the PSN login requirement as Sony was widely criticized for the same thing with another popular game, Helldivers 2. However, it ultimately backed away from its decision following widespread negative feedback, said GameSpot.

A Variety of Post-Launch Updates

The PC version of God of War: Ragnarok will come with all of the game's post-launch updates, including the new game+ mode and the Valhalla DLC.

Players who opt to pre-order the game through Steam or the Epic Game Store before Sept. 19, 2024, will also get the Kratos Risen Snow armor and the Atreus Risen Snow tunic cosmetic items.

The deluxe edition for the PC version also comes with a variety of bonus rewards, including the Krato Darkdale armor, the Atreus Darkdake Attire, Darkdale Blades Handles for the Blades of Chaos, Darkdale Axe Drip for the Leviathan Axe, and many more.

With the upcoming PC release of the game, players will be able to experience the epic conclusion of Kratos and Atreus' journey in the Norse saga at peak performance. It also features the option of true 4K resolution and expands the full potential of the cinematic no-cut camera.

These are all features that fans of the franchise will be able to see as they travel through the Nine Realms and battle against deadly foes in the forms of Norse gods and horrific monsters, according to the PlayStation Blog.
