MultiVersus Relaunch Rocks Steam: 110K+ Players Dive Back into Action

In a surge of excitement, MultiVersus, a free-to-play fighting game featuring Warner Bros characters akin to "Smash Bros," has stormed back onto the Steam platform, captivating over 110,000 concurrent players. This marks a robust return for the game, which previously reached a peak of 153,044 concurrent players during its open beta in 2022.

Unexpected Downtime Preceded Significant Improvements

Initially launched in open beta in 2022, MultiVersus took an unexpected hiatus last year, leaving many players puzzled. However, this downtime was evidently well-utilized by the developers, Player First Games, who have returned with a noticeably enhanced gaming experience. Early reviews have highlighted improvements such as more substantial combat mechanics, refined camerawork, and engaging new PvE missions.

Despite these advancements, some players have voiced concerns over the influx of free-to-play monetization elements, including daily missions, event-specific tasks, and battle pass missions, which have left them feeling overwhelmed and disoriented within the game's menus.

Diverging Opinions Emerge Amongst Players

While many players are embracing the relaunched MultiVersus with enthusiasm, others have expressed dissatisfaction, citing perceived sluggishness and clumsiness in the gameplay compared to the open beta version. This disparity in opinion suggests a potential divide between those who favored the game's original iteration and those who appreciate the improvements introduced in the relaunch.

The current positive trend in Steam reviews indicates that the latter viewpoint may be gaining traction, although some reviews advocating for additional character inclusions, such as Walter White, hint at varied player expectations.
