Toys for Bob Update Sparks Rumors of New Crash Bandicoot, Spyro Game

Toys for Bob Update Sparks Rumors of New Crash Bandicoot, Spyro Game

There are rumors of either a new game for Crash Bandicoot or Spyro after the games' developer, Toys for Bob, made some changes to its website, in particular, showing off a purple Tiki mask.

Toys for Bob is most widely known for developing Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The Tiki mask itself could hint at Crash Bandicoot while the color purple could potentially reference the Spyro franchise.

However, there is also the possibility that the new logo combines the two franchises together. Online users found out that the image itself was named "TFB_LogoVector_TikiMask-purple." There is also a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that suggests it is actually an old logo.

Spyro Universe said on X that Toys for Bob uses the particular Tiki mask design as their logo, noting that it does not necessarily mean the developer is teasing a new Crash Bandicoot game. The user also noted that the company had previously used a Tiki bar theme, according to Eurogamer.

Toys for Bob parted ways with Activision earlier this year and went independent and is now "exploring a possible partnership" with tech giant Microsoft.

The development follows the latter's acquisition of Activision Blizzard and subsequent move to lay off nearly 2,000 employees across Xbox, including 86 from Toys for Bob.

In a statement at the time, the studio said that over the years, they have inspired love, joy, and laughter for the inner child in all gamers. Toys for Bob also said that they pioneered new IP and hardware technologies in Skylanders and raised the bar for best-in-class remasters in Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

The rumors also come despite Toys for Bob not buying the rights for Crash Bandicoot after it parted ways with Activision, which is also true for the Spyro franchise.

Many fans are now hoping that there will be some way that the purple Tiki mask update will actually culminate in some form of a new game for either series, said The Gamer.

Possible New Crash Bandicoot or Spyro Game

Another user on X, Canadian Guy Eh, confirmed earlier this March that Spyro 4 is in development. He allegedly overheard one of the developers working for Toys for Bob during the PAX East 2024 gaming convention that included talks about information regarding a new game in the franchise.

The content creator initially took the discussions with a grain of salt. But then, another prominent Crash Bandicoot and Spyro content creator, Jez Corden, published an exclusive article confirming the details that Canadian Guy Eh heard about.

The latter then tried to confirm with other sources and worked to investigate the rumors to find out more information. Canadian Guy Eh then revealed that Spyro 4 is indeed in development and noted that the project started in January this year.

This could very well mean that there is more chance that Toys for Bob's latest purple Tiki mask website update is referencing the Spyro franchise.

However, as this entire thing is still in its early stages, the project could be delayed, canceled, or reworked into a completely different concept, according to ClutchPoints.
