First Hades 2 Patch Will Implement Quality-of-Life Improvements to Resource Gathering, Movement

Following a relatively successful and quiet early access launch, Supergiant Games' Hades 2 will get its first patch later this month which will include various quality-of-life improvements, including resource gathering and movement.

In an announcement on the game's Steam page, Supergiant Games said that their first patch "should be coming later this month." However, the developer noted that they do not yet have a more specific timeline.

The company said that it was looking to implement various improvements that it can make in the near term in a way that makes Hades 2 better for all players. They are hoping that they will come closer to realizing their goals.

The first of the two changes that the developer plans for Hades 2 will focus on the game's resource-gathering mechanics. This could allude to fixing some issues that players are experiencing in trying to upgrade their weapons while also managing other aspects of the game.

The developer is also trying to tweak how much the protagonist, Melinoe, is able to traverse through the underworld. Supergiant Games said that it was important to them that the character has her own distinct style, according to PCGamer.

The company said they want players to be able to navigate her battles and other interactions in a nimble, responsive, expressive way. Supergiant Games added that they already have ideas on how to improve Melinoe's Dash and Sprint.

However, this is something that some players are still skeptical about as Melinoe's current movement mechanics are considered difficult but satisfying if mastered. This specifically references the protagonist's dash that leads into a sprint. It's also a mechanic that requires more precision than other inputs.

Supergiant Games also released the first early access patch notes for Hades 2 that detail a variety of changes that the developer has planned. The developer also thanked players for the feedback that they have given while playing their latest game.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

The resource gathering changes will let players gather from any resource point after they have unlocked the proper Gathering Tool. On top of this, you will be able to prioritize a certain one to make its specific resource show up more often, said IGN.

The patch notes also show that Supergiant Games will be fixing a few frustrating bugs, including some Boons not working as intended and enemies spawning out of the map area. The latest update was almost entirely inspired by player feedback.

Hades 2 was first announced during the Game Awards in 2022 and had a short technical test last month ahead of its early access launch. But since it was released, it has more than doubled its predecessor's concurrent player count.

Just on the first day since being released in early access, Supergiant Games' latest masterpiece was able to surge past 100,000 concurrent players. Despite its relative success, Hades 2 is still very much in development.

The developer also confirmed that a second Hades 2 update is already being prepared with balance changes and adjustments. These are based on what the development team has so far observed, according to GameRant.
