Final Fantasy 14 players worldwide are facing difficulties logging into the game due to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack targeting Square Enix's servers. The attack, which started around 6 a.m. on March 6, has impacted players across Japanese, North American, European, and Oceania data centers, causing disruptions in gameplay.

Square Enix Responds with Investigation and Countermeasures
In response to the ongoing DDoS attack, Square Enix has assured players that they are actively investigating the situation and implementing countermeasures to restore stability to the game. While the exact cause of the attack remains unknown, the developer is committed to resolving the issue and minimizing further disruptions to players' gaming experiences.
Upcoming Updates and Expansion Plans
Despite the setback caused by the DDoS attack, Square Enix continues to push forward with plans for Final Fantasy 14's upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Director Naoki Yoshida recently announced a graphical update in development for the expansion, aiming to address fan feedback regarding character models' expressions. The updated Benchmark Tool for Dawntrail is scheduled for release on May 23, with anticipation building for the game's launch on July 2.
Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 enthusiasts can look forward to the game's upcoming live letter event on May 16, where new jobs and patch note adjustments will be showcased. Early access for Dawntrail will begin on June 28 for pre-order customers, ahead of the official launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
