Deathtroopers is a short fan-made game based on the highly popular Star Wars franchise that involves players fighting off against zombie stormtroopers.
The game had gone viral online as fans of the franchise realized that a horror game set in the popular sci-fi universe would be an amazing thing to have. Deathtroopers was developed on Unreal Engine and seems to have been inspired by an old Star Wars book of the same name.
Zombie Stormtroopers Go Viral

Similar to the book, the game's basic plot is that a ship filled with Imperial stormtroopers is overrun by a zombie-like plague that transforms the soldiers into undead creatures. Players will take control of a long trooper who survived the zombification.
You will have to find a way to survive against the zombie stormtroopers who now infest the ship. The game was developed by Stefano Cagnani and has been available on indie storefront itch.io since its launch in November 2023, according to Kotaku.
However, the game recently became viral after a popular content creator, GmanLives, tweeted about Deathtroopers, exposing the fan creation to a larger audience. However, while the zombie stormtrooper game is spreading like wildfire, Cagnani released the sequel earlier this year, Deathtroopers - The Outpost.
The second game in the franchise follows a different stormtrooper who lands on the forested moon of Endor and discovers that there is a similar zombie plague that has spread across the planet. This had turned both troopers and Ewoks into nasty undead creatures.

Deathtroopers' overly long intro may annoy some players but the action that it features is considered to be relatively good. Players will be equipped with Star Wars weapons in their quest to defeat the zombie stormtroopers.
In the game, players will arrive on the Star Destroyer and find blood splattered across the walls of the ship and the remains of other stormtroopers ripped up and scattered around. The survival part of Deathtroopers does not last very long, said PCGamer.
A Fan-Made Horror Star Wars Game
After players encounter the first trooper who is standing still, the action immediately begins and you will have to periodically gun down waves of undead creatures. The main objective of the game is to survive for four minutes.
Deathtroopers feature a third-person over-the-shoulder view, which means that players can easily keep multiple enemies lined up in their sights. This makes it somewhat easier to repel the waves of hungry zombie stormtroopers.
After players survive the whole four minutes, the game goes pitch black and another cutscene plays out and lets them continue with their adventure. The game ends as the player is mauled by undead troopers.
Then suddenly, the door behind you opens up, and out comes zombie Darth Vader, who proceeds to use the force to rip your character in half. Many of the players who tried out the game had generally positive things to say about the fan-made title.
The relatively optimistic feedback on Deathtroopers shows just how much potential it has to gain a much larger fan base. However, whether or not Disney will allow for a more mature game in the franchise is something that no one can say for sure, according to Gaming Bible.
