The Rogue Prince of Persia is the latest game in the franchise that was just recently announced to be in development and Evil Empire, who also created Dead Cells, is looking for alpha testers for the new title.
The 2D platformer was announced on Wednesday and will be available for early access on Steam starting on May 14. If you want to be one of the first players to get a taste of the action the game has to offer, you can now register to participate in an alpha test.

Evil Empire is a French indie studio that worked on post-launch content for Dead Cells for more than five years. The company approached Ubisoft with its own idea for working on the Prince of Persia series.
Ubisoft said that for players to master the new platforming sections, they will have to use the iconic wall run that will let them easily cross gaps, avoid traps, and outmaneuver enemies. The company also said that the protagonist of the game will need to use his acrobatic skills to safely find a route through procedurally generated levels, according to Video Games Chronicle.
It also said that on top of all the environmental hazards that players will have to overcome, they will have to deal with and fight through various enemies. These include Huns that wield the dark shamanic magic and creatures that were corrupted by its influence.

The company noted that players have plenty of options available for them to use in traversing through the world of The Rogue of Prince of Persia. It will suit all playstyles, from twin daggers to spears, broadswords, and axes. The game also features secondary weapons that open up more varied combat options, adding shields, bows, grappling hooks, and more to the mix.
The announcement of The Rogue of Prince of Persia, and the rumors before that, came as a surprise to fans of the franchise, albeit a good one. This is because Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown had just been released earlier this year to critical acclaim.

The new game also showed off some of its gameplay with a trailer, showcasing colorful but classic-looking visuals. It features the roguelite formula as the protagonist has access to a mystical device that lets him resurrect after death, said Engadget.
Throughout the runs, players will be able to collect resources that will let them buy upgrades in the hub world. While The Rogue Prince of Persia looks a lot like Dead Cells, the moveset takes from the classic games in the franchise.
While the prince of the series has been wall-running since 2003, the new title feels a little bit different than other games. Evil Empire also made the decision to cut the mechanic of rewinding time to under short-term mistakes.
The video game developer said that it broke everything, including the rhythm and combat of the new game, which prompted them to remove it altogether. The game director of Evil Empire, Lucie Dewagnier, said that it was a shame because it was probably the most complex thing that he did technically as a programmer, according to GameInformer.
